done with decorating

its seems like we have not done much else over the last few weeks... but our other little house now has a new kitchen, new bathroom and a fresh coat of paint everywhere. It looks fab... hope the new tenent enjoys it!

that's life...

sometimes you just have to accept things happen for a reason.... not the best day.... at least we know what's been happening and what to expect ...

bored of the decorating

hmm... having returned nice and relaxed from our holiday, we've just spent the whole weekend decorating. quite bored of antique cream now. a bit annoyed that the builders still haven't finished things off properly. but at least the weekend ended with food at the vic.

homeward bound

not the most exciting day of our holiday: 6 hours plus of driving down the m74 and m6 homeward bound. nice...

scotland: day 5

the rain is continuing, so we plan a road trip to teh most westerly point on the british mainland. 20 miles down a single track road and we eventually get to the ardnamurchan lighthouse

a brief break in the weather allows us to have a walk around... then its back in the car and back down that single track road.

back home via the ferry and an evening of chilling.

Scotland: Day 4

Happy Eighth Anniversary us! Spend the day recovering from Ben Nevis, with more great seafod at the pierhouse, port appin. simon even tries his first oyster! weather still raining so spend the whole afternoon there, playing pool and reading; just lovely.

scotland: day 3

its the final part of our 6 month 3 peak challenge - ben nevis. the weather could not be much better - dry and not to hot. you walk pretty much from sea level for ben nevis so its almost the full 1344m that you climb.

Alison (as usual) marches ahead, whilst I struggle with the 'up'. 4 hours of just going up and we make it to the top... sadly we are in the cloud so no views. a quick bit to eat and we head back down... somewhat quicker!

so that's it done - 3 peaks, 6 months (yeah I know some crazee people do it in 24hrs!)

Scotland: Day 2

Weather beautiful so we go exploring the local area. A quick walk round Glencoe forest and the lochan before lunch at the Ice Factor in Kinlochleven, an indoor climbing centre with an amazing indoor ice wall! Another quick walk round Mamores Loddge dodging the showers before heading off to Port Appin to book the restaurant for Tuesday.

much more driving ahead of us as we leave kendal and head north! over the border... through glasgow and on and up.

we stop for some lunch at the original loch fyne restaurant - tasty stuff... although £4.20 for a pint is just silly!

On holiday

We're on holiday today. Off up to Scotland to complete our 6-month 3 peak challenge by climbing ben nevis. Will be stopping over at Kendal YHA. Can't wait for the break!

Decorating Decorating....

all weekend, missing all the nice weather. seems like we've still got loads to do and not much time left to do it all in. new kitchen looks good - shame about the finishing!

Visitors from wales

Linds & Nerys pop up for a quick visit this weekend. Ness is looking great at 5 months pregnant - think her belly's about as big as mine is normally! Had great food at Tonic - even managing to get a booth. Felt like proper grown ups. Obligatory visit to the Vic and a great game of scrabble.
