curry in ruddington

another trip south of the river to ruddington... this time for a curry, beer and chat with dave before he moves down to cornwall.

a great evening and we look forward to catching up again at helsbury.

nottingham beer festival

it started off being quite a few of us... but when it came to actually going it boiled down to a motley band of four. it was the first time have been to the nottingham beer festival, but I doubt it will be the last. loads and loads of great beers and well packed with people as well. not just beardy sandal wearing beer spotters either!

underworld - rock city

bit strange with it being a sunday night, but we head off to rock city to watch underworld. they are touring their new album - oblivion with bells - which is due out tomorrow. the crowd is mainly old ravers who have managed to get a babysitter and it is not that full so we manage to get a great view.

they roll out the classics, starting with rez/cowgirl and include some new stuff as well - certainly looking forward to hearing the new album when it arrives. sadly they also play born slippy with predicatable results. a great live show and well worth the slightly fuzzy head tomorrow.

our friends from the north....

Emma and David Elder popped down for a quick visit last night. great to catch up with them despite the fact that they got quite lost in nottingham. a quick bite to eat then more gossiping back home. what a nice way to spend a mid-week night.

weekend in palma

part of working for the best place to work in nottingham is that we get taken away for a weekend of 'team building' with other companies in the group. this year we went to Palma - a great hotel right on the beach, so I confess to doing little more than sitting on the beach, swimming in the sea and occasionally visiting the spa - all very tough.

friday night we had fab food at fabrica 23. Saturday night was the group meal at parliamento, which wasn't that great at all. ended the night dancing to euro disco house music at titos night club. more lounging by the pool and another visit to the spa on the sunday as our flight was not until later.

A fab weekend, just don't remind me about my carbon footprint!

very exciting rugby today: england v australia. against all the odds, we won!!! get in!!!
I think I scared Sue, by shouting too much at the tv - but it was very exciting...

new stained glass window

after mistakenly getting the original stained glass window in our front door repaired with a dodgy replacement when we bought the house, we finally treat ourselves to a new proper window. all hand made glass in traditional styles.

swansea gathering 2008

Just about recovered from this year's annual gathering, this year in belper. venue was a little random (converted chapel with in-built sauna anyone?), but we still managed to have a good time/catch up on news/drink too much wine/play games and have a good fancy dress party. even had plenty of kids this year - must be grown ups now!
