the rain cleared and it turned into a great evening. meet up with dave and jon, watch the game and have a few beers. finish of by setting the world to rights in the tbi.

its 20twenty time! yeah! notts vs derby at trent bridge. notts set a massive 203 total and derby don't even get close. they are all out for 150 with two balls left. a good game if a little chilly out of the sun.

wimbledon

up to london town for wimbledon: centre court tickets with mum. amazingly we've had no interuptions all day, and see henman et al. no pimms this year, but do have a yummy proper cream tea.

must remember to put in for the draw for next year.

cornwall 07 - day 8: homeward bound

leave the fantastic priskilly country house and head home, full of thoughts and plans for our own guest house.

gerry welcomes us back to beeston with food and too much wine: good job i'm not at work on monday...

cornwall 07 - day 7 : fishguard

after a noisy night's sleep at the manor town house we stroll around fishguard to try and get to know the place. the weather is fab - sunshine at last!

a stroll around the coastal path and we make it over into goodwick for a picnic on the beach. the b&b still looks good.

we head out to laugharne for the evening and have a couple of pints and chips with lindsey and ness!

with all our surprise at it actually being sunny today we forgot to use any suntan cream - doh! we got burnt!

cornwall 07 - day 6 - travelling to wales

we leave cornwall in the rain and have the longest wettest journey ever cross country to wales and fishguard. the m5 was solid with traffic jams and everyone going to glastonbury.

finally make it fishguard after 6 hours of travelling to stay at the manor town house - the competition to fern villa. very nice inside with a fantastic view over the bay, but fronts onto the main street which is quite noisy. do great food though and we have far too much to eat in the evening.

we still want to give running our own place a shot!

cornwall 07 - day 5

loving the rain! it tips it down all morning but we manage to escape to tintagel after lunch. a quick 4 mile stroll and we just make it back to the car as the heavens open again! we drive back the heaviest rain storm we have seen all week.

later the news shows us what the storm did as we look at pictures of boscastle flooding again.

cornwall 07 - day 4

we ignore the rain and go to padstow, but it's still raining there and still full of rick stein shops and other tourists trying to pretend they're loving the british weather too. in the afternoon, we found some sunshine and a fantastic vineyard which does the best pink and white bubbles - camel valley wine....it's very very nice. you should try some

cornwall 07 - day 3

the weather is conspiring against us so we plan to meet up with ian and helen and owen and isobel down in fowey. a quick bite to eat and a stroll around town avoiding the showers. great to catch up with them.

then we drop into the st austell brewery to pick up a slab of the excellent clouded yellow - a fine wheat beer.

cornwall 07 - day 2

....hmmm.... nice.... continuing on our quest to eat and drink round the UK, we celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary with lunch at jamie o's fifteen at watergate bay.... very nice food, very nice wine, even saw some sunshine!

cornwall 07 - day 1

we're up and on the road nice and early as planned. the drive down is easy as well. dave's place is fab - cool little cornish cottage that appears small, but is tardis like inside.

then we just have a relaxing evening celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary.

mark & marie get married

its a bit rainy as we head into town. a quick drink in cock-a-hoop then a quick service - maark and marie look great and very happy. champagne then some great food. more bubbly then G&Ts. Its then a gentle stroll so meadow lane for a traditional evening do! Buffet, dodgy DJ and lots of beer.

the stag

in readiness for his wedding on saturday, mark hits the bright lights of nottingham for a stag do. many beers and much fun.

happy 60th mum

things were a little hazy this morning, but we managed to make it to mum's 60th party. loads of old faces there that we haven't seen for ages - including penny and gill who we can't have seen for about 20 years! hopefully we will see them again soon.

mum seemed to have a great time drinking pimms as well! happy birtday mum.

eating at zest

brother ian comes down from manchester for the weekend so we finally take him to meet hayley and stuart over at restaurant zest - great food as always! gerry comes along as well and we make a day of it with a few more beers in the sunshine in derby followed by even more back in beeston. the evening ends with pizza - very naughty!

doing good

after months (well may be a few weeks) of training, Helen and I took part in race for life again. Managed to equal last year's time - 28 minutes - despite the heat and the random course, and raised over £200 as well! thanks to everyone who sponsored me.
