rachel and chris' new house

what a difference a day makes! more walking: only 8 miles, but seemed much harder than yesterday's walk. plus the weather was awful: thank godness for my new coat and boots! unfortunately it seems that simon now needs new boots. popped in on chris, rachel and rufus at their new house in great longstone - very nice. i can't believe how quickly rufus seems to be growing!

dovedale

have THE best walk: 11 miles round dovedale. fantastic weather for walking, blue skies, sunshine, and simon spots a kingfisher... don't think i've ever seen one before. the yha is absolutely packed, too busy, full of weddings, parties and middleclass southerners. simon is even more happy as we visit the famous 'hartington cheese' shop.

hartington

off for a bit of fresh air, clean living and long walks, with a weekend in the peak district, staying at Hartington YHA - the poshest yha in the UK. V busy but has a lovely log fire and decent red wine.

recovery

hmm... too much fun on Friday equals head hurting on saturday. lots of time recovering. have a very pleasant quite saturday evening with sam and alice in ashbourne. and just had a wonderful walk around attenborough nature reserve - beautiful!

green living website

defra has launched an online guide to greener living on directgov, the government's main citizen-facing website. this can be found at www.direct.gov.uk/greenerliving. the guide is pitched at a mainstream audience and aims to provide information to enable people to make informed choices about what people can do in their everyday lives to tackle climate change and other environmental issues.

it's my birthday!

it's my birthday today.... 35 years young..... didn't receive the letter telling me i'm a grown up....oh well. Get lots of nice gifts and cards, and then get treated to some wonderful food and wine and harts. Definitely the best restaurant in Nottingham.

school quiz

an evening with mum over in southwell at a quiz raising money for her school.

10/10 in the 80's music round - yeah! and third overall. the quiz was being run by mr. berry who was one of the tutors at high pavement 6th form when i was there - small world. some good nosh as well.

i was down in london for work, so met up with sam in notting hill at the swanky e&o bar. bumped into dave ho and matt clarke as well! bonus.

gerry moves to beeston

we celebrate with the first trip of 2007 to the vic.

heading home

after a fantastic new year down in wales we head back up north.

new years day and we are still in wales... trying to get outside to enjoy the scenery, but the weather keeps forcing us back to the scrabble and wine.

and yes, the site does look different!

after years of writing our blog using html hand-coding, we have decided to use one of the many great blogging tools that are out there.
